when the seaweed sinks and the sun gets low

I mentioned in a previous post that one of my friends had begun blogging.  What I didn't mention was that he is, in fact one of my favorite people in the world and I was honored when invited me to join him on mog.  Honored as I was, I didn't actually decide to join up until I found out that he was going to be moving many states away and that I was going to be in serious danger of losing contact with him.  So I signed up.

As I have been suffering from a severe case of "writer's apathy" for quite a long time now, I've been spending most of my time at mog just reading what others have posted and posting videos.  I think that posting videos is an even bigger cop out than posting pictures, but over at mog that sort of thing flies, so I've gone ahead and ran with it.

So, I got into posting the videos for songs that I really like and wish others could hear, but quickly ran into the problem that very few of the songs I wanted to share actually have videos made, much less posted on the internet.  I decided that, in this day and age, it was simple enough to just make my own videos and post them to youtube, which I did, and problem solved.

The first thing I did was slap a Baby Bird song over a Meatloaf video.  A friend equated the result to "repurposing bad prerecorded tapes into mix tapes," and suggested it would be a good idea to "take all the crap music videos in the world, and lay Babybird songs down over them!"  Sounded like a good idea to me, so I started on it.  The thing was, though, the thing was I was initially just planning on using songs other than just those by Baby Bird, but after this exchange it just didn't seem right to do so anymore.

What I went ahead and did then, was decide that I would use non music video footage to accompany the other songs that I wanted to post.  So I did that, and the last one I did, I really like.  That doesn't mean that I think I did a good job on it, it just means that I lucked into some footage that goes well with a beautiful song, so I wanted to post what will most likely be the first and last streaming video ever to grace the Festering Carbuncle. (I guess this will also give me a chance to see if I can even post a video here)

the song is Tokyo A Go-Go by the Magnetic Fields, and the video is scavenged from this.
